GT vs DC Review: Delhi outclass Gujarat in a comprehensive win
Delhi Capitals took on Gujarat Titans in Match 32 of the Indian Premier League 2024 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Wednesday. DC won the toss and opted to bowl first. Shubman Gill (8 off 6) and Wriddhiman Saha (2 off 10) were dismissed cheaply while Sai Sudharsan (12 off 9) and David Miller (2 off 6) could not get going either. Abhinav Manohar (8 off 14) and Rahul Tewatia (10 off 15) fell prey to DC’s momentum and Shahrukh Khan followed suit. Rashid Khan (31 off 24) was the lone saviour and GT could only muster a paltry 89 losing all of their wickets.
For DC, Jake Fraser-McGurk (20 off 10) provided a fiery start even as Prithvi Shaw (7 off 6) ended his edgy stay. Abhishek Porel (15 off 7) and Shai Hope (19 off 10) dealt with boundaries before Rishabh Pant (16* off 11) and Sumit Kaur (9* off 9) landed DC their third victory as they outclassed GT by 6 wickets and 11.1 overs to spare.
Top Performer of the match
Rashid Khan (31 off 24)
Rashid Khan held onto one end as wickets tumbled at the other. He saw through the tougher deliveries and punished the loosed ones. He smashed two boundaries and one maximum. It was due to his innings, GT could muster 89.
Mukesh Kumar (3 for 14)
Mukesh Kumar has often been under the radar for his economy rate. But he made up for DC when it mattered the most. He kept the momentum going and reaped rewards from the pressure other bowlers had created. He cleaned up Saha and sent Rashid Khan packing. Noor Ahmed was his third scalp and he had just completed 2.3 overs of his quota.
What’s next for both teams?
Delhi Capitals will play hosts to Sunrisers Hyderabad in Match 35 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on April 20 while Gujarat Titans will take on Punjab Kings in Match 37 at the MYSIC Stadium in Mullanpur on April 21.
