England announce white-ball squads for West Indies tour
After a dismal performance at the ongoing ODI World Cup, ECB (England Cricket Board) came forward to announce their ODI and T20I squads for their upcoming multi-format series against the West Indies.
The side will take on the Windies in three ODIs and follow it up with five T20I matches to end the tour. The first ODI will be played on December 3, with the first T20I scheduled for December 12.
As the side announced their white-ball squads to take on the West Indies, they saw many changes from the squad that travelled to India for the ODI World Cup 2023. Only six players who were at the World Cup have been included in the ODI squad to take on the West Indies, and it is interesting to note that Jos Buttler has been retained as the skipper in both formats.
Apart from Buttler, Gus Atkinson, Harry Brook, Brydon Carse, Sam Curran, and Liam Livingstone are the players who are in the ODI squad and were also present at the World Cup.
Furthermore, three players without an ODI cap have been included in the squad as well, namely, Ollie Pope, John Turner, and Josh Tongue. Speaking of the T20I squad, veteran all-rounder Moeen Ali retained his spot in the squad. However, Dawid Malan failed to make the cut across both formats.
After being knocked out in the group stage of the ODI World Cup 2023, Buttler-led England will look to heavily improve on their performances and reflect on their showings so they can come away as the winners against the West Indies in the multi-format series.
