CSK vs RCB Review: Chennai start their title defence on a winning note
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) started their title defence in Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) on a winning note as they beat Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by six wickets in Match 1 on Friday, March 22 at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
After opting to bat first, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) posted a decent score of 173/6 in their allotted 20 overs courtesy of crucial knocks from Faf du Plessis (35 off 23), Dinesh Karthik (38* off 26) and Anuj Rawat (48 off 25).
In reply, CSK chased down the target comfortably in 18.4 overs with Rachin Ravindra (37 off 15), Ajinkya Rahane (27 off 19), Daryl Mitchell (22 off 18), Shivam Dube (34 off 28) and Ravindra Jadeja (25 off 17) making solid contributions.

Anuj Rawat (48 off 25)
Rawat walked in to bat at number 6 with RCB reeling at 77/4 which quickly turned to 78/5 after 11.4 overs. However, the 24-year-old was unfazed by the precarious situation and ended up playing a heroic knock of 48 off 25 with the help of four fours and three sixes. He got involved in a massive stand with Dinesh Karthik of 95 (50).
Mustafizur Rahman (4/29)
The left-arm seamer was brought into the attack after RCB got off to a good start with opener Faf du Plessis scoring a quick-fire 35 (23). However, Mustafizur brought CSK back into the game by dismissing du Plessis and Rajat Patidar (0 off 2) in his first over. He later returned in the 12th over to get the prized scalps of Virat Kohli (21 off 20) and Cameron Green (18 off 22) to register figures of 4/29 in four overs.

Chennai Super Kings will take on Gujarat Titans in Match 7 on March 26 at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. On the other hand, Royal Challengers Bengaluru will take on Punjab Kings on March 25 at their home ground, the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.
