BCCI announces India A squad for Australia tour
The BCCI has revealed the India A squad for the tour of Australia, with Ruturaj Gaikwad leading the side. This tour will kick off on October 31, 2024, as part of a crucial preparation series ahead of bigger fixtures. Abhimanyu Easwaran has been named as vice-captain, adding stability to the lineup. The inclusion of Ishan Kishan, a key player known for his explosive batting and wicket-keeping skills, is a significant boost to the squad, though Shreyas Iyer misses out, possibly due to injury concerns.
The series aims to give young talents a platform to showcase their skills against a competitive Australia A team. Along with senior players like Gaikwad and Kishan, this India A squad is packed with promising names like Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rajat Patidar, both of whom have been in stellar form in domestic cricket. With these emerging stars, the series will also provide an opportunity for team management to evaluate their readiness for senior team roles in the future.
The India A team will play two first-class matches against Australia A in Mackay and Melbourne before taking part in a three-day intra-squad game against the senior Indian team in Perth. This intra-squad game will be a crucial part of Team India’s preparatory camp for the highly anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25.
