13-Year-Old Vaibhav Suryavanshi becomes IPL’s youngest signing for ₹1.10 Crore

Vaibhav Suryavanshi from Bihar, made history by becoming the youngest player ever signed in an IPL auction. The Rajasthan Royals (RR) secured the 13-year-old prodigy for ₹1.10 crore during the IPL 2025 mega auction held at the Abady Al Johar Arena in Jeddah on Sunday. A bidding war with the Delhi Capitals ultimately saw RR emerging victorious in acquiring this budding star.

Hailing from Samastipur, Suryavanshi’s incredible journey has already etched his name in cricketing history. At just 12 years and 284 days, he made his Ranji Trophy debut in the 2023-24 season, representing Bihar against Mumbai. This milestone crowned him as the youngest player in Ranji Trophy history, surpassing the debuts of icons like Yuvraj Singh (15 years, 57 days) and Sachin Tendulkar (15 years, 230 days).

Suryavanshi’s meteoric rise was further highlighted during the Youth Test series against Australia in Chennai, where he delivered an unforgettable knock. He smashed 104 runs off 62 balls, becoming the youngest centurion in 170 years of competitive cricket at just 13 years and 188 days. His blistering century, reached in just 58 balls, also marked the fastest by an Indian at the youth level and the second fastest globally, trailing only Moeen Ali’s 56-ball effort.

Suryavanshi’s remarkable achievements have captivated cricket fans worldwide, with experts hailing him as the future of Indian cricket. His signing by Rajasthan Royals is expected to offer him a grand stage to showcase his prodigious talent in the upcoming IPL season.
