Netizens hit back at Barmy Army for cryptic tweet on Virat Kohli
It has been 1000 days since Virat Kohli hit a century, and a lot of criticism has been coming in the way of the former India captain. Barmy Army, the official supporters of the England team, took to Twitter and took a dig at Kohli, reminding him of his century drought
Their tweet did not go well with the netizens as they gave it back to the Barmy Army and England team in the process. A few of the supporters reminded them that it has been 3,532 days since England managed to win a series in India. Some even reminded them that Australia are currently the superior side among the two nations as it’s been 2450 days since England managed to win the Ashes.
The Barmy Army, over the years, shared a mixed relationship with India. They have previously hailed Kohli as one of the greatest ever. Nevertheless, the banter on social media continues as the two sets of supporters are considered to be the most passionate ones in all of cricket.
Meanwhile, the Kohli last scored a century in 2019 and things are a bit concerning at the moment. In 2022, the 33-year-old has scored 476 runs in 16 matches at an average of 25.05. Thus, he needs to step up big time in the Asia Cup to change the scenario and play to silence his critics big time.
Be it BCCI President Sourav Ganguly or team India captain Rohit Sharma, Kohli has been backed by the team management. However, a certain experts have raised concerns over his form. With many youngsters being in great form, Kohli’s spot may not be guaranteed in the 2022 T20 World Cup squad if he fails to perform in the Asia Cup.
Kohli took quite some time off cricket and will be making his return against Pakistan in India’s opening match of the tournament. He struggled against left-arm pacers in the past, and in Shaheen Afridi’s presence, Kohli will be tested right from the start.
