Nathan Lyon bowls 30,000 deliveries without overstepping
Australia off-spinner Nathan Lyon registered a unique feat on Saturday, February 11 as the 35-year-old successfully managed to deliver over 30,000 deliveries in Test cricket without overstepping a single time. Notably, he made his Test debut against Sri Lanka in 2011 and since then has represented Australia in 116 matches in the longest format of the game.
Having played over 100 Tests and not overstepping even once is a major feat and it goes on to show Lyon’s consistency as a spinner. The stat was shared by Mazher Arshad, who is a verified statistician.
He has picked up 461 wickets so far and thus, not bowling a single no-ball in so many games is a staggering record to own. He has been Australia’s wrecker-in-chief for over a decade now and has also represented the Kangaroos in 29 ODIs and two T20Is. In a total of 31 matches in white-ball cricket, Lyon has picked up 30 wickets in the process.
