Mumbai Indians owners unveil names of their teams in UAE and SA
Mumbai Indians, owned by Reliance Industries Limited, has released the names of their newly acquired franchises in the UAE and South Africa T20 leagues. In an official announcement, they unveiled the names, which are MI Emirates (UAE) and MI Cape Town (SA), and the teams will be donning the iconic blue and gold jersey in the upcoming tournaments.
IPL recently made the headlines after the franchises of the cash-rich league spread their wings to the global leagues, by acquiring multiple teams in different domestic tournaments across the globe. The record five-time IPL winners, Mumbai Indians are one of the teams to have acquired teams in the recently inaugurated UAE’s International League T20 and Cricket South Africa T20 League.
Notably, both teams will have Mumbai Indians (MI) in their names, as the team in the UAE-based league has been named the MI Emirates, while the acquisition in the South Africa-based league is titled MI Cape Town. Nita Ambani, Director of Reliance Industries, expressed her pleasure in the acquisitions and stated that the goal of the franchise is to foster a fearless and positive attitude that goes beyond cricket.
