MS Dhoni helped me to improve my game: Shivam Dube
The four-time champions Chennai Super Kings finally struck the right chord in their last match against RCB to bag the maiden win of the season by 23 runs. CSK, who were batting first in the game, brought stuff of class on the table as they went on to register the highest total of the season (216) so far. And, Shivam Dube, who smashed 95* off 46 to take CSK’s total to great heights, turned out to be an absolute hero.
Talking after CSK’s first win in the season, Dube, who bagged the Player of the Match award, added that MS Dhoni helped him improve his game. He also spoke of having conversations with seniors and how he aimed to time the ball perfectly. Dube found the perfect partner in Robin Uthappa, who smashed 88 off 50 to row the team’s boat smoothly with him.
“I spoke to many seniors – Mahi bhai also helped me to improve the game. He said, ‘Just be focused, just be still, just let the skill work in the game.’ I wanted to time the ball really well. I tried to maintain my balance,” said Dube during the post-match presentation.
Many people told me that I bat like Yuvraj Singh: Shivam Dube
Towards the end, the all-rounder stated that several people tell him that he bats like former star Yuvraj Singh. However, Dube concluded that he is happy to contribute to the team especially when the team has experienced the first win of the season. Calling his massive contribution as his honour, he added that he is focusing more on the basics of the game this time.
“Many people told me that I bat like him. As the situation demands, as the captain and coach tell me. We were looking for the first win and I am really happy that I contributed for the team. It’s an honour for me. I am more focused this time and focusing on basics,” Dube added.
