Most wickets in T20Is for India
Team India are one of the most successful T20I sides in world cricket. They were crowned the T20 world champions in the inaugural edition in 2007 under the talismanic MS Dhoni and finished as the runners-up and semifinalists in the 2014 and 2016 editions.
The Men in Blue are currently the top-ranked side in the shortest format and are yet to be defeated in a bilateral T20I series this year. Meanwhile, a lot of bowlers over the years have made a tremendous impact for the Indian team in this format. Without further ado, here’s a look at three of them.
Jasprit Bumrah- 69
The pace spearhead has been featuring regularly for India in T20Is ever since his international debut in January 2016. Bumrah has played 58 T20Is so far and picked up 69 wickets. More importantly, he has emerged as an outstanding death overs specialist in this format. The premier speedster would have got a chance to add more to his tally had a back injury not ruled him out of the upcoming Asia Cup 2022 in the UAE.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar- 73
Bhuvneshwar Kumar occupies the second spot on this list despite his career being marred by injuries in the last few years. Ever since IPL 2022, the senior pacer has made a remarkable come back to the national team and has also starred in the wickets column at regular intervals. In the recently-concluded T20I series against the West Indies, the UP pacer surpassed his bowling partner Bumrah and now has 73 scalps to his name from 72 matches at an economy of 6.93.
Yuzvendra Chahal- 79
Yuzvendra Chahal has been in outstanding form ever since IPL 2022, where he finished as the Purple Cap winner with 27 scalps to his name from 17 matches. He continued showcasing consistent performances in home and away bilateral series and would be a force to reckon with in the upcoming Asia Cup and the T20 World Cup. The Haryana cricketer has so far taken 79 wickets from 62 T20Is averaging 23.95 and an economy rate of 8.1.
