Most wickets in T20I cricket
It is difficult to maintain consistency in the game of cricket. Be it a batter or a bowler, one needs to be involved in the game every time. Among so many top-class bowlers from across the globe, there are a few who have raised the bar high. The competition among bowlers in the men’s T20Is has been very close, and the gap between the top three wicket-takers of all time is very less. On that note, let us have a look at the players with the most T20I wickets:
3. Rashid Khan- 122 wickets
One of the finest cricketers that the Afghanistan team has ever produced, spin-bowling all-rounder Rashid Khan is the third on the list with a total of 122 wickets under his name from 74 games. Rashid made his T20 international debut in 2015 and has been a crucial component of the team since then. In seven years of his international career, Rashid has managed to overcome all obstacles and leave a mark in the game.
2. Shakib al Hasan- 127
Bangladesh’s T20I skipper Shakib al Hasan is ranked second on the list with 127 wickets under his belt from 108 matches but is not far away from the first-ranked player. One of the most experienced players in the team, Shakib is a proven match-winner for his side. Though Bangladesh have gone through multiple issues in the side, Shakib is one player who has not disappointed with his performances.
1. Tim Southee- 129 wickets
The 33-year-old New Zealand pacer tops the list and has scalped a total of 129 wickets so far in the 104 games. Southee is just two wickets ahead of Bangladesh’s Shakib al Hasan and the Kiwi has never failed to impress. Southee registered his best bowling figures in the format back in 2010, while playing against Pakistan when he bagged a five-wicket haul and recorded 5/18 in his four overs spell, including a maiden over.
