The first six overs in the T20 format allow for just two fielders outside the circle which is the powerplay. Most often, batters tend to try to go hard in the powerplay which can be quite useful while setting up a total or posting a big total. Over the years, bowlers have managed to find ways to provide breakthroughs in the powerplay. Let us look at the top three bowlers with the most wickets in the powerplay in T20Is in the year 2022.

Arshdeep Singh

Arshdeep Singh has been a great find for India, especially in the T20Is where he has made a great impact. The left-arm seamer made his debut this year and is among the leading wicket-takers in the year for India in the shorter format with 33 wickets to his name. He swung the ball upfront and managed to pick up 14 wickets inside the powerplay this year. He had a great campaign in the T20 World Cup 2022 and is a bright prospect going forward.

Haris Rauf

Haris Rauf had had a phenomenal run in 2022 across formats for Pakistan and he has picked up 31 wickets this year already. The right-arm quick has troubled the batters with his pace and tough lengths in the powerplay and he is not an easy bowler to target. The 29-year-old has taken 15 wickets in the first six overs in the format this year and is second on the list.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Bhuvneshwar Kumar leads the chart for most number of wickets in 2022 in the powerplays. The right-arm seamer hardly gives away freebies and has the ability to swing it both ways. He has taken 21 wickets in powerplays in 2022, and has managed to keep the batters on their toes.
