Most wickets in international cricket in 2022
The year 2022 saw a few bowlers who showcased consistent performances with the ball in hand and provided timely breakthroughs for their side. However, what really stood out here is that they were both consistent and outstanding across formats this year while making a tremendous impact in the wickets column. Without further ado, here’s a look at three of them.
3. Mitchell Starc- 64
Australian pace spearhead Mitchell Starc’s decision of turning down lucrative franchise league contracts has borne fruits as he has been able to make himself available for national selection across formats. Starc has managed to keep marching on with the ball and has succeeded in keeping the batters quiet. The tall pacer finished 2022 with 64 scalps to his name.
2. Tim Southee – 65
Tim Southee is 34 but has shown no signs of slowing down. Southee registered an outstanding hat-trick during the home T20I series against India last month while in the Karachi Test against Pakistan, the tall fast bowler registered a three-wicket haul in the first innings. Southee finished the year with 65 scalps to his name.
1. Alzarri Joseph- 70
It has been a few years since pacer Alzarri Joseph announced his arrival at the international arena, but he is yet to attain fame and fortune at the highest level as of now. Nonetheless, it seems that Joseph has already made a mark this year and is well on the verge of taking a quantum leap in international cricket from here on. Joseph tops the list as the most successful bowler this year in terms of overall wickets having registered 70 scalps to his tally.
