India have played 198 T20I matches since 2006. In that span, they have enjoyed the luxury of many talented bowlers. One of the finest pace bowlers India has ever produced, Bumrah features in the 4th position. He has snared 70 wickets in only 60 T20Is. His career economy stands at 6.62, the lowest among India’s top 15 bowlers.
3. R Ashwin – 72 wickets
The genius off-spinner occupies the 3rd spot for India. Ashwin’s 72 wickets have come in 65 T20Is. He has two four-wicket hauls to his name, one of which (4/11) was against Australia in the 2014 T20 World Cup.
2. Bhuvneshwar Kumar – 90 wickets
India’s senior pace bowler in T20Is, Bhuvneshwar was India’s leading wicket-taker before Chahal overtook him. Bhuvneshwar took his 90 wickets in 87 T20Is. He has delivered 10 maiden overs in his career, most by an Indian bowler.
1. Yuzvendra Chahal – 91 wickets
The little leg-spinner has now taken the top position among India’s wicket-takers in T20Is. He bowled Finn Allen in the 2nd T20I to go past Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s tally of 90 wickets. Chahal has played in 75 T20Is for India and is set to play many more. He has a wonderful opportunity to become India’s leading wicket-taker in T20Is for a long time.
