No skipper likes to lose any particular match for his side as he always aims to emerge victorious. 3. Ben Stokes (9)
New coach Brendon McCullum has changed the style of play for England in Tests. Known as the ‘Bazball’ approach, the English side has been delivering success on a consistent basis under McCullum and new skipper Ben Stokes. They have managed to win a staggering nine out of the 11 Test matches with just two losses in WTC. Notably, one of those losses came against West Indies in 2020 when Brendon didn’t take the coaching duties in hand.
2. Joe Root (12)
England’s Joe Root occupies the second position in this elite list for winning 12 Tests. Under the stewardship of Root, England has played 32 games with 13 defeats and seven draws in WTC. Overall, Root is the most successful Test captain for the English side as he has won 27 matches with Michael Vaughan in the second spot with 26 victories. Former captains Alastair Cook and Andrew Strauss are joint-third for winning 24 games.
1. Virat Kohli (14)
Former India captain Virat Kohli tops the chart with 14 wins in 22 games in WTC. Under Kohli, India has lost only seven matches with one encounter ending up in a draw. Overall, Virat is the fourth-most successful skipper in the history of Test cricket as he has won 40 games out of the 68 played. He suffered defeats in 17 matches with 11 ending up in a draw. He is regarded as one of the best captains that the Asian giants have ever produced in the Whites.
