Most Test wickets by overseas pacers in Asia
The longest format of the sport, Test cricket is arguably the toughest among all others. Playing on Asian soil essentially means that the surface offers an inclination for spinners more than the pacers. However, many overseas pacers have succeeded in bagging massive wickets in the Asian subcontinent. Here is a list of the top three players who have dominated the Asian soil in terms of the number of wickets taken-
3. Courtney Walsh, West Indies -77 wickets
During the glory days for the Windies, Courtney Walsh was among the leading pacemen in the group. In his six tours to the Asian subcontinent, Walsh accumulated 77 wickets in his stint for the national side in Asia. Walsh emerged as a star when he toured Pakistan thrice and India twice with the West Indies contingent.
2. James Anderson, England- 78 wickets
The veteran Englishman is known to be a lethal bowler who has the potential to get massive movement with the ball. Well-regarded for his in-swinging abilities, Anderson has scalped 78 wickets in 27 matches since 2003. In his most recent outing in Rawalpindi against Pakistan, the English pace spearhead bagged four wickets in the first Test.
1. Dale Steyn, South Africa- 92 wickets
The former South Africa pace spearhead is perhaps one of the greatest bowlers of all time for the kind of impact he has had for the side. Racking wickets was something the Proteas pacer found easy and has on numerous occasions dominated in the Asian subcontinent. In 22 Tests, Steyn scalped as many as 92 wickets during the span of 2006-18. While Anderson is still yet to retire from the red-ball format, it is tricky to catch up with the former South African international.
