Most Test series wins at home
England registered a historic 0-3 win against Pakistan in their first Test series in Pakistan after 17 years. Ben Stokes, England’s red-ball team captain, took charge in June 2022 and since then has won nine out of ten Tests this year. However, England won six of seven Tests at home, including three home series wins against the giants New Zealand, India, and South Africa. They have also dominated the past Test series at home and have recorded more than 80 series wins at home. So, let’s take a look at top three teams who have won most Test series at home so far.
3. 51 wins – India
India recently recorded 0-2 away series win against Bangladesh in their last Test series in year 2022. Indian team have always been dominant in the home conditions regardless the format and have recorded the third-highest 51 Test series wins at home since playing their first-ever Test against England. The Indian team played only two Tests against Sri Lanka in year 2022 and won both the matches.
2. 78 wins – Australia
Australia, the current no.1 Test team, have been dominant force in Test cricket in year 2022. They lost only one Test match in entire year, which came against Sri Lanka in July in Galle. Australia won the Ashes, and recorded a home series win against West Indies. They also won the opening Test against South African at The Gabba in their last match and have recorded 78 Test series wins at home so far.
1. 86 wins – England
England played the first-ever Test match in 1877 against Australia and since then they have played 1058 Tests, 211 more than second-placed Australia in the list of most Tests played by a team. They have played 47 Tests in last two years, 19 more than the second-placed India in that span. In 2022, they have been really impressive in red-ball cricket with their attacking approach while batting. They failed to win any of the opening five Tests in 2022 but have won nine out of their last ten Tests. They are leading the chart with 86 series wins at home in Test cricket so far.
