In the past few years, Test cricket has seen some great openers who have played a major role in their team’s victory. These players have risen to the occasion and scored a plethora of runs to guide their side to numerous wins in the format. On that note, let’s take a look at the top three openers with the most runs in Test victories since 2020:

3. David Warner (794 runs)

The star Australian opener has played a pivotal role in several Australian victories over the years. Since 2020, he has contributed 794 runs in Australia’s victories. He has one hundred, two nineties and one double hundred to his name during this period. The 36-year-old has been a part of several memorable victories.

2. Dean Elgar (825 runs)

The former South African captain has been one of the most consistent performers in the past few years. He played match-winning innings of 95 and 127 against Sri Lanka in the 2020-21 series. Elgar’s most memorable knock came against India where he scored an unbeaten 96 chasing 241 in Johannesburg.

1. Rohit Sharma (893 runs)

The Indian captain has changed his fortunes in Test cricket ever since he began opening in Test cricket. Sharma scored a magnificent 161 against England in Chennai, 2021 to help India make a comeback in the series after being 0-1. His innings of 83 at Lord’s and 127 at the Oval helped India avoid a defeat in England for the first time since 2007. He recently scored a match-winning 120 against Australia in the first Test in Nagpur.
