Most consecutive men’s T20I innings without a duck
Team India is taking on South Africa in a three-match T20I series. The Men in Blue won the first match comfortably as they thrashed the Proteas by eight wickets. Indian pacers Arshdeep Singh and Deepak Chahar were too good with the ball as the visiting team marginally crossed the 100-run mark. In a record, Africa’s senior batter David Miller registered his first duck in the 20-over format. On that note, here is a look at three batters who took the most innings in the T20I format before registering a duck. Let us begin:
3. Shoaib Malik and Martin Guptill (69 innings)
New Zealand opening batter Martin Guptill and Pakistan’s senior batter Shoaib Malik are tied at the third spot, having taken 69 innings before they registered their first-ever duck in the T20I format. While Guptill registered his first ever duck against Pakistan, Malik was scalped for zero against Australia.
2. MS Dhoni (84 innings)
Former team India skipper MS Dhoni comes second in the list after not getting out for a zero for consecutive 84 innings. The right-handed batter got out for a duck against South Africa after pacer Charles Langeveldt. To note, it was also Dhoni’s first T20I innings as the legendary batter never got out for a duck in his entire T20I career.
1. David Miller (90 innings)
As mentioned above, Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh bowled a magical delivery to give David Miller his first duck in the 20-over format. The left-handed batter tried to push a straight drive, but an in-swinging delivery rattled his stumps. It took Miller a total of 90 innings before he got out on zero. He will want to put on a match-winning performance for his team in the upcoming encounter.
