Most centuries in World Test Championship
The World Test Championship was started in 2019 in a bid to keep the excitement of the fans alive for the oldest format of the game. The second cycle of the WTC will come to an end in a few days as India and Australia will lock horns in the final to decide the second champion of the Test format. The first two cycles saw several batters bring their ‘A’ game to the fore as they scored a plethora of runs in the format and stamped their authority as Test batting greats. As another WTC cycle is heading towards an end, let’s take a look at the top three players with the most hundreds in the tournament:
3. Babar Azam (8 hundreds)
The Pakistan captain has been exceptional in the format in the past few years, leading his side from the front. In the 24 matches played in the WTC, the 28-year-old has scored eight hundreds, making him rank third on the last.
2. Marnus Labuschagne (10 hundreds)
The star Australia batter has taken the format by storm as he has become an integral part of the Australian squad ever since Ashes 2019. Labuschagne is one of the finds for Australia in recent times as he has ruled the ICC Test batters rankings in the past few years. The 28-year-old has scored ten hundreds from 32 matches in the WTC cycles, making him rank second on the list.
1. Joe Root (11 hundreds)
The former England captain has been in imperious form since 2021 and has ruled the format with his stupendous performances all around the world. After having a slight dip in form in 2019 and 2020, the England star has made a roaring comeback in the format. Root has scored 11 hundreds in 42 matches in the WTC making him the batter with the most number of hundreds in the tournament. The 32-year-old will be eager to continue his sensational form in the next cycle as well as to continue ruling the batting charts.
