The year 2022 is about to end as we welcome the new year 2023. Cricketing action was in full action in 2022 as there were some remarkable performances by the teams and individuals in all three formats.

Babar has scored 1170 runs in nine matches at an average of 73.12. In 16 innings, the Pakistan captain has also hit seven half-centuries with the highest score of 196.

Left-handed Aussie Khawaja has amassed 1080 runs in 11 clashes at an average of 67.50. In 20 innings, Khawaja has also slammed five fifties with the best score of 160. His teammate Labuschagne ended this year with 957 runs to his name in 11 matches. In 19 innings, Labuschagne smashed one fifty with the highest score of 204.

2. Joe Root (5)

Former England captain Joe Root is in the second position in this chart. The 31-year-old hammered 1098 runs in 15 Tests at an average of 45.75. In 27 innings, the right-handed batter struck five centuries and two half-centuries with the highest score of 176. His knock of 142* was vital for England winning the fifth and the rescheduled Test against India at Edgbaston in Birmingham in July.

Root’s teammate Jonny Bairstow occupies the top position on this list. Under new coach Brendon McCullum and in his Bazball era, Bairstow has been in destructive form since the start of the New Zealand series in June. Overall, the 33-year-old has amassed 1061 runs in ten games at an average of 66.31. In 19 innings, Bairstow smashed six tons and one fifty with the highest score of 162. He hammered twin centuries against India in the rescheduled Test to help his side clinch a solid victory.
