Most catches by wicketkeepers in T20s
The wicketkeepers play an instrumental role as they need to take the catches, execute the stumpings and help their team with DRS reviews. However, in the T20 format, there have been a handful of keepers who have excelled and made their name in an elite list. On that note, we take a look at the top three most catches for wicketkeepers in T20-
3. Kamran Akmal | 172
The former Pakistan wicketkeeper, Kamran Akmal flourished behind the stumps. Regarded as one of the finest keepers in his country, Kamran took a record 172 catches in 282 matches for the various teams he represented in the T20s. With this, he stands third in the elite list of cricketers behind rivals such as the likes of Quinton de Kock, Dinesh Karthik and MS Dhoni, who have over 200-plus catches.
2. Quinton de Kock, Dinesh Karthik | 207
Quinton de Kock and Dinesh Karthik have both played for various teams in the T20s and been fairly decent behind the stumps. Both de Kock and Karthik have the joint second-most catches taken in the T20s, with 207 under their belt. While the South African has attained the number in 271 matches, Karthik recorded it having played 326 games.
1. MS Dhoni | 208
Arguably the best keeper in the world, MS Dhoni is known to be razor-sharp behind the stumps and lightning-quick when it comes to stumping. While he has cemented his name in history for being one of the greatest captains of all-time, Dhoni was a mastermind behind the stumps as well. Having played 362 matches in the T20s, former India and legendary CSK skipper has taken 208 catches, the most in the game. Considering that Dhoni, de Kock and Karthik play in the 16th edition of the IPL, it remains to be seen if there will be changes in the rankings.
