Most balls faced by an Indian on Test debut

In the process, he tumbled quite a few records which includes the most balls faced by an Indian in their Test debut. On that note, we take a look at the top three cricketers who have faced the most balls on Test debut for India-
3. Rohit Sharma, Sourav Ganguly | 301 balls
India skipper Rohit Sharma made his red-ball debut against West Indies in 2013 and registered 177 runs in his account off 301 balls. Coming down the middle order, his innings featured 23 boundaries and one six at a strike rate of 58.80. India eventually won the contest by an innings and 51 runs and Rohit was adjudged player of the match for his knock.
Likewise, Sourav Ganguly too played 301 balls on his debut in 1996 against England at the Lord’s and slammed 131 runs coming in at no. 3. Ganguly’s knock featured 20 boundaries upon which India posted 429 runs in the second innings. India and England concluded the Test on a stalemate.
2. Mohammad Azharuddin | 322 balls
In 1984, Mohammad Azharuddin made his Test debut against England at Eden Gardens. In the third Test, India posted a humongous 437-run total before declaring in the first innings all thanks to debutant Azharuddin’s 110 coupled with Ravi Shastri’s 111 runs. Notably, Azharuddin played 322 balls in an innings which featured 10 fours. The two sides eventually got on level terms as the match concluded in a draw.
1. Yashasvi Jaiswal | 387 balls
The flamboyant southpaw opened with skipper Rohit Sharma in the first Test against the Windies at Roseau. Scoring 171 runs in 387 balls, Jaiswal took the rival bowling unit by storm and carved out a scintillating knock which featured 16 fours and a solitary maximum. India comfortably won the contest by an innings and 141 runs.
