Most 50+ scores in men’s T20Is
While T20 is the most exhilarating and attractive format of the game, the unpredictability of the game often fails to deter some of the regal talents in the game, who keep on performing on a consistent basis. Although bowlers end up on the receiving end on several occasions, batters too, have to keep reinventing themselves to survive in the thrill-a-minute form of the game. Here are some of the most consistent batters in T20I with the highest number of 50+ scores for their national team.
Babar Azam (Pakistan) – 27
Pakistan’s recently appointed all-format skipper Babar Azam has seen a meteoric rise in world cricket in the past couple of years. The elegant batter was thought to be tailor-made for the longer formats of the game with his impeccable technique and timing with the bat in hand, but Babar has excelled in T20Is as well alongside Tests and ODIs. He even opened for his team in last year’s T20 World Cup and was prolific in that role too. Babar Azam has amassed 2686 runs for Pakistan in T20Is with 27 fifty-plus scores to his name.
Virat Kohli (India) – 30
Indian batting superstar Virat Kohli has dominated international cricket for the last decade, and it’s no surprise that he has a phenomenal record in the most exciting format of the game as well. The former Indian captain has featured for India in 99 matches and has amassed 3308 runs at an astonishing average of 50.12, the highest among batters with more than 50 innings in T20I cricket. The enterprising cricketer has breached the 50-run mark on 30 occasions for India in the format.
Rohit Sharma (India) – 31
Rohit Sharma is widely regarded as one of the best white-ball cricketers of the modern era, and his records are a testament to that. The Indian skipper is the highest run-getter in the format and has also featured most times in T20Is. The mercurial opener has recorded 3443 runs in 121 innings, with 31 fifty-plus scores for the Indian team. Rohit is the only batter to have more than three centuries to his name in the shortest format of the game with four centuries to his name.
