Mohammad Hasnain’s bowling action gets approved by the ICC
In good news for express pacer Mohammad Hasnain, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on June 9 (Thursday) announced that the speedster’s bowling action has been found to be legal after the amount of his elbow bending was within the limit permitted by the International Cricket Board (ICC) bowling rules and regulations.
After a reassessment conducted by PCB, the top board found Hasnain’s elbow extension within the 15-degree level of tolerance and he can now resume his participation and bowl in all forms of cricket including international and domestic cricket around the world.
Mohammad Hasnain was suspended from all forms of cricket in January 2022
It must be noted that the express pacer was barred from participating in any form of cricket following his bowling action test, conducted at an ICC testing centre in Lahore on January 21, 2022. The report was verified and reviewed by a Cricket Australia (CA) independent expert and he termed Hasnain’s bowling action as ‘illegal’.
The right-arm pacer, after making a few changes in his bowling action, underwent a test again on May 21 at the same testing centre in Lahore and it was verified by experts before getting a clean chit by PCB on June 9 (Thursday). Hasnain’s bowling action was reported in January while he was participating in Cricket Australia’s domestic cricket competition.
Talking about his numbers in international cricket, the 22-year-old has played a total of eight ODIs for Pakistan and has scalped 12 wickets at an average of 37.91. He also has a five-wicket haul in the 50-over format. In T20Is, he has represented the Men in Green in 18 matches and has taken 17 wickets at an average of 30.70. He is yet to represent Pakistan in the longest format of the game.
As his action has been cleared, the express pacer will want to perform well in the domestic circuit and get selected for the national squad once again. Meanwhile, Pakistan will take on West Indies in the second ODI to be played on June 10.
