Mohammad Amir available for England series: Reports

Amir

Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir has made himself available for the England series, after having originally withdrawn due to personal reasons. He is likely to replace Haris Rauf, who has tested positive for Covid-19 again.

The 28-year-old had initially opted out of the series to be with his wife for the birth of their second child. On Thursday (July 16), the cricketer announced the birth of his daughter on Twitter.

Following their daughter’s arrival, it appears that the pacer informed the Pakistan Cricket Board about his wish to return to the side. He lives in England and seems to have cleared one Covid-19 test. However, the cricketer will have to return two more negative tests to be included in the bio-secure environment.

The first Test between England and Pakistan is scheduled to begin on August 5 at Old Trafford, Manchester. The visitors have already suffered a blow in Khushdil Shah, who injured his thumb during a practice session Derby. The PCB confirmed that he will be out of action for at least three weeks. Batsman Abid Ali, who was struck on his helmet on Sunday, is likely to return to training this week.
