MI vs RCB Review – Mumbai hunt another 200 total, leap to 3rd spot
Mumbai Indians hammered Royal Challengers Bangalore by six wickets in Match 54 of IPL 2023 on Tuesday, May 09 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. After being put in to bat first, RCB posted a massive score of 199/6 in the first innings courtesy of half centuries from Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell. In reply, MI chased down the target in just 16.3 overs as Suryakumar Yadav played a breath-taking innings.
Mumbai got off to a great start as opener Ishan Kishan smacked 42 off 21 in the 51-run opening stand alongside Rohit Sharma in just 28 balls. However, they both were dismissed in the fifth over by Wanindu Hasaranga. Following their dismissals, Suryakumar Yadav (83 off 35) and Nehal Wadhera (52* off 34) got together at the crease and got involved in a massive 140-run stand off just 64 balls for the third wicket to help their side register a massive win.
Earlier, RCB got off to the worst possible start losing the big wicket of Virat Kohli (1 off 4) in the first over itself. They further lost Anuj Rawat (6 off 4) in the third over of the innings and were in all sorts of trouble. Captain du Plessis (65 off 41) and Glenn Maxwell (68 off 33) took their team out of misery with their 120-run stand off just 61 balls. Following their dismissals, a brilliant finish by Dinesh Karthik (30 off 18) helped RCB reach 199/6 in the first innings.

Suryakumar Yadav: After a few quiet outings at the start of the season, Suryakumar finally returned to form as he scored his fourth fifty of IPL 2023. The star batter played a scintillating innings of 83 off 35 balls smashing seven fours and six sixes during his knock and put on an exhibition of his incredible 360-degree stroke-play.
Jason Behrendorff: The left-arm seamer was the pick of the bowlers for MI as he scalped 3/36 in his four-over spell. Behrendorff got the prized scalp of Virat Kohli in the first over and further dismissed Anuj Rawat in the third over. The 33-year-old also got the big wicket of Maxwell to end the massive partnership between him and du Plessis.

After their clinical victory, Mumbai Indians will look to continue their momentum as they lock horns with Gujarat Titans on Friday, May 12 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. On the other hand, Royal Challengers Bangalore will be eager to return on the winning track after back-to-back losses up as they square off against Rajasthan Royals on Sunday, May 14 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur.
