MI vs RCB Preview – Bumrah’s return ignites Mumbai vs Bengaluru rivalry

Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru lock horns in match 20 of the Indian Premier League 2025 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Monday, April 07. The upcoming game will be the fifth match for MI in the ongoing event and they will be bolstered by the return of their bowling talisman Jasprit Bumrah.
The Hardik Pandya-led side is coming off a disappointing 12-run loss against the Lucknow Super Giants. However, the five-time champions haven’t had a memorable season so far, losing their first two games before registering a win against defending champions, Kolkata Knight Riders.
The Mumbai side hasn’t found their rhythm in the tournament and has lacked in areas that have cost them. With a good record against RCB, they will be hoping to record their second win of the season.
On the other hand, Royal Challengers Bengaluru are currently sitting in the second spot of the points table after two wins in a row. However, in the last game against the Gujarat Titans at home, the Rajat Patidar-led side failed to put up a defendable total on a high-scoring venue, and the lackluster bowling in the end led to their defeat.
However, they will look to put this loss behind them and come well-prepared for the game against the Mumbai Indians. In the previous season, the two sides faced each other just once, and the Men in Blue won by seven wickets.
Pitch Report
The Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai is an absolute belter. With some grass covering and a hard surface, batters will love their time in the middle. The red soil and the short boundaries make it easier to find the ropes. However, bowlers with variations can still make an impact. The Pacers have had some help here. Chasing becomes easier in the second innings as dew comes into play.
