Match-fixing bigger crime than murder: MS Dhoni
Yesterday (10th March) Hotstar released a trailer of the documentary based on Chennai Super Kings’ return in IPL 2018. The upcoming work focuses on CSK’s journey to IPL title after their two-year suspension for spot-fixing. The 45-second trailer included MS Dhoni’s stunning revelation regarding the malpractice.

“The biggest crime that I can commit is not a murder, it is actually match-fixing,” Mahendra Singh Dhoni said. He added, “The team was involved, I was accused too. It was a tough phase for all of us. Fans felt that the punishment was harsh. Coming back was an emotional moment and I have always said, what doesn’t kill you makes you strong.”
Hotstar will be streaming the documentary ‘Roar of the Lion’ from March 20. This is the first time MS Dhoni has expressed his views on the controversy. In July 2015, the Supreme Court Committee decided to suspend Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals in the wake of their owners being involved in betting activities. Both the franchises missed out the next two seasons of the IPL and returned in IPL 2018.
Chennai Super Kings returned in their grand style and went on to clinch the coveted trophy for the third time. Under MS Dhoni’s leadership, the team full of experienced players dominated the league. CSK defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final at the Wankhede Stadium to claim the IPL title. The documentary shall trace the journey of the Yellow Army from suspension to the winning celebration.
CSK retained 22 players for the IPL 2019 edition. They begin their title defense against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on 23rd March.
