Mahela Jayawardene, Shaun Pollock and Janette Brittin inducted in ICC Hall of Fame
The ICC Cricket Hall of Fame recognizes the legendary cricketers who have had incredible achievements throughout their careers. In the latest turn of events, former Lankan cricketer Mahela Jayawardene, South African legend Shaun Pollock and later Janette Brittin have been announced as new additions to the ICC Hall of Fame.
The late England women cricketer Brittin stepped up for her team from 1979 to 1998 and scored 4,000 runs in her 19-year long career. She also picked a total of seven wickets in her glorious career. Sir Clive Lloyd, Hall of Famer, will officially induct the above-mentioned trio into the Hall of Fame.
“The ICC Hall of Fame is our way of honouring and celebrating the greats of our game. Only the very best players are recognized for their contribution to cricket in this way. I would like to congratulate Mahela and Shaun on their induction into this illustrious group and it is a wonderful way to commemorate Janette’s life and career,” said ICC Acting CEO Geoff Allardice as quoted by Sportskeeda.
Talking of Mahela Jayawardene, he hit several milestones in his career and continues to do even today in the capacity of a coach. He became the first from his nation to score 10,000 Test runs and went on to win several T20 league titles while being the coach. In fact, his role with the IPL franchise Mumbai Indians is lauded by many experts around the world.

Though he was known much for his expert role with Mumbai Indians for quite some time, the cherry on the cake happened when he got roped in for England’s new 100-ball format game The Hundred. Jayawardene coached the men’s Southern Brave team in their inaugural edition and the team returned as the champion of the tournament.
Talking of Shaun Pollock, he became the first player to score 3000 runs and pick 300 wickets alongside in both ODIs and Tests. In fact, he stands as the highest wicket-taker from South Africa across formats, to date. The former speedster topped the ICC Bowler ODI Rankings charts for more than five years.
