LSG vs RCB, Eliminator IPL 2022 Playoffs Match Review

Royal Challengers Bangalore managed to scamper through a win against Lucknow Super Giants in the Eliminator of IPL 2022 playoffs. Chasing a big score of 208, LSG were on backfoot straightaway with the loss of Quinton de Kock while Manan Vohra had a short stay. KL Rahul (79) and Deepak Hooda (45) kept their side in the hunt however, once the duo was dismissed, it was curtains for LSG as they fell 14 runs short.

Earlier in the game, LSG bowled first after winning the toss and skipper Faf du Plessis for RCB was dismissed early by a peach from Mohsin Khan. Virat Kohli stitched a good partnership with Rajat Patidar, but the former fell after a 24-ball 25 while Glenn Maxwell followed him soon. However, the partnership between Patidar and Dinesh Karthik (37*) gained momentum and the former brought up his first IPL century in a high-pressure encounter.

Top Performers of the game

Rajat Patidar

While big names like Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis fell early, it was Rajat Patidar who stole the show with a stunning century. The right-hander finished with a 54-ball 112 that included seven sixes and 12 fours and helped his side score a massive total on the board in the first innings for RCB. He was brilliant against both spin and pace and looked in supreme touch.

Josh Hazlewood

Josh Hazlewood came up with a match-winning spell and picked up the big wicket of KL Rahul who looked like taking the game away from RCB. The Australian finished with 3 for 43 in his four-over spell and dented the run chase for the LSG side in the final few overs.

What next for the two teams

Royal Challengers Bangalore will next play the Rajasthan Royals in Qualifier 2 of IPL 2022 Playoffs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 27 while Lucknow Super Giants have been knocked out of the tournament.
