Lowest totals in men’s T20Is
As there is so much happening in just three hours, the T20 format of the sport is thrilling for the spectators. During the course of a match in the shortest format, there have been teams and players who have left their marks on history for both favourable and adverse causes. Spectators have seen teams scoring massive totals while also occurrences when teams finish at the other end of the spectrum with the lowest totals. In this piece, we list down the top three lowest totals ever recorded in the shortest format of the sport:
3. Lesotho | 26 runs
In their match against Uganda in Group A of the T20 World Cup Sub-Regional Africa Qualification in 2021, Lesotho could only muster 26 runs. Dinesh Nakrani of Uganda had a fantastic stint, taking six wickets and only allowing seven runs to be scored. Samir Patel, Lesotho’s skipper, was the sole hitter on the team with a double-digit score as he had 10 runs to his name.
2. Turkey | 21 runs
The dismissal of Turkey for 21 runs against Czech Republic in the 2019 Continental Cup garnered massive attention. The team was cleaned up for less than 35 runs at least three times during the same year. While Turkey had a discouraging night, scoring the lowest total ever in that particular year with 21 runs, Czech scored a whopping 278 runs in their allotted 20 overs, probably one of the highest totals in a T20 format.
1. Isle of Man | 10 runs
On February 26, 2023, Spain restricted Isle of Man in men’s T20Is by a score of just 10, the lowest ever. Spain’s Mohammad Kamran and Atif Mehmood picked up four wickets each to wrap up the first innings. Kamran’s spell also included a hat-trick as the rival side were rolled over in no time. As many as six ducks were seen in the Isle of Man scorecard. In response to the paltry total, Spain just took two balls to complete the win.
