Women’s cricket has received a lot of attention from cricket fans in recent years. The data for Television viewers during the Women’s ODI World Cup 2017 and the T20 World Cup last year proves that. ODI Format is the oldest one in which Women’s cricket was started. There have been instances when teams have been bowled out for a very low total in the 50-over format. In this article, we are going to list the lowest ODI Totals by top Women’s Teams.
5. Australia – 77 vs New Zealand, 1993 and 77 vs India, 2004
Australia’s lowest score in the 50-over format is 77 runs which they have registered two times. They got all out for this score while batting first against the Kiwi team in 1993, with Zoe Goss scoring 31 runs. New Zealand achieved this target in only 18.2 overs and won the match by 10 wickets. Australia were bowled out for the same score against India while chasing a 166-run target in 2004. Amita Sharma and Nooshin Al-Khadeer took 3-wickets each for India.
4. New Zealand – 58 vs Australia, 1985
New Zealand got all-out for only 58 runs against Australia in an ODI game back in 1985. This is still their lowest score in ODIs. This was a 60-over ODI game in which Australia won by 9 wickets, successfully chasing the target of 59 runs with 198 balls remaining.
3. South Africa – 51 vs New Zealand, 2009
In the Women’s World Cup 2009, South Africa were chasing a total of 251 runs but got all-out for 51 runs in 22.1 overs. 25 of these 51 runs were scored by Cri-Zelda Brits. This is the lowest score in the ODI format for Proteas women. Suzie Bates and Aimee Watkins took 4-wickets each for the Kiwi team. New Zealand registered a big win of 199 runs in this match.
2. England – 50 vs India, 2005
The English team was bowled out for only 50 runs while batting first in an ODI match against India in 2005. This is their lowest total in the 50-over format. 5 of England’s batters bagged a duck in this innings. Indian pacer Jhulan Goswami bowled exceptionally well picking up 5 wickets while giving away only 16 runs in her 10 overs. India chased this total without losing any wicket in only 14.5 overs.
1. India – 26 vs New Zealand, 2002
The Indian team got all out for their lowest ODI total of 26 runs against New Zealand in the year 2002. The Indian team was chasing a target of 169 runs in the second innings but lost by a huge margin of 142 runs. None of the Indian players could cross the 10-run mark, while 4 of them registered a duck. Kiwi bowler Racher Puller picked up 5 wickets for only 10 runs in her 7-over spell.
