Kuldeep Yadav’s coach opines on his snub from Indian team
The childhood coach of Indian left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav, Kapil Dev Pandey feels that his pupil did not get enough chances to prove his worth even though he was performing well.
Pandey also added that Ravi Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja are good, but reckons Yadav was sidelined because he had some issue with the captain and coach of the Indian cricket team. Pandey further opined that even before he was injured, Yadav was dropped from the Indian side.
“Ashwin and Jadeja are really good but even when Kuldeep was performing well, he didn’t get a chance. He was sidelined because of some liking and disliking issues with the captain and coach at that time, I guess. Even before the injury, he was dropped from the national side,” said Kapil Dev Pandey as quoted by News.18
Kuldeep Yadav did not get enough opportunities: Kapil Dev Pandey
Kapil Dev Pandey further argued that Kuldeep Yadav was not provided with enough opportunities in the Indian side. Adding that no bowler can take six wickets in six deliveries, Pandey feels that Yadav was side-lined because he was not in the good books of the captain as well as the coach.
“Some say that his form was an issue but tell me, how many opportunities did he get? He was taking wickets. You can’t expect six wickets in six balls. It seems he was actually not in the good books of coach and captain, and that was the only reason he missed it,” added Pandey.
Pandey also added that Kuldeep Yadav is recovering from his knee injury, and there are good chances that the left-arm spinner will be picked in the Indian ODI squad for the tour to South Africa. Pandey concluded by stating that Kuldeep is a world-class spin bowler.
“He is recovering well and I told him to focus on the future and forget the past. He is a world-class spinner and needs to be in national colours soon. Let’s hope for the best. If he gets a hundred percent fit then the chances are good,” concluded Pandey.
