The Beginning
Born in Ranchi, MS Dhoni typifies the journey of every small town Indian who dreams big and strives hard to make it a reality. Working as a ticket-collector from 2001 to 2003, Dhoni never gave up on his dreams of playing cricket and the whole of India was all the better for it. While managing his day job, he continued to excel in cricket. His performance for Jharkhand in the Ranji Trophy and for East Zone in the Duleep Trophy caught the attention of the selectors. He was selected for India A squad which toured Zimbabwe and Kenya in 2003/04. His subsequent performances earned him a spot in the Indian ODI side in December 2004.
