KL Rahul excited for Asia Cup clash against Pakistan
Team India vice-captain KL Rahul has said that the team is very excited to play against their arch-rivals in their opening encounter of the 2022 T20 Asia Cup. To note, both India and Pakistan are set to face each other during the 2022 T20 Asia Cup on August 28 (Sunday).
Rahul also said that the Indian players look forward to the contest as both the teams do not play each other in any bilateral series and only face each other during big events. Notably, both the teams played against each other in the 2021 edition of the T20 World Cup in UAE, where Pakistan handed a 10-wicket defeat to India to break.
“We are all very excited. As players and as an Indian team, we look forward to this India-Pakistan clash as we don’t play each other anywhere else but in these big tournaments. It’s always an exciting time and a great challenge to compete against a good team like Pakistan,” said KL Rahul during a press conference.
“As well all know there’s a great history and there’s always rivalry and the games have always been of high intensity. So, as players we have all dreamt of playing India v/s Pakistan games and it is a great opportunity for us to challenge ourselves,” he added.
Rahul also said that they are not worried about Kohli’s form with the bat as he has remained an integral part of team India over the past many years. “We are not worried about the form of Kohli, he has done many times for India – his mindset will remain the same to win the game for India – we all want him to get back into form,” said Rahul.
“We don’t really give much importance to comments. It doesn’t really affect a player, especially a world-class player like Virat will not be affected by what people are saying on the outside. He has had a little break and he is working on his game,” he further added.
