KKR were kind enough to pay for the excess baggage: Dinesh Karthik
Veteran wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik thoroughly entertained cricket fans with his commentary skills in the last few months. The star cricketer made his commentary debut during the World Test Championship final between New Zealand in India in June. Karthik didn’t take long in becoming a fan favourite as his précised analysis and cheeky comments were termed ‘a breath of fresh air’.
Besides his brilliance with the microphone in handy, Karthik also bagged a lot of limelight for his stylish outfits. During his maiden commentary stint in England, the dashing batsman sported numerous attire, giving fashion goals to fans. Owing to the same, Karthik’s fellow commentator and former England captain Michael Atherton stated that the Indian cricketer has travelled with 17 suitcases to the UK.
Although Karthik, in a tweet, mentioned he didn’t have so many suitcases, the 36-year-old still had a significant amount of luggage. Speaking of the same, the cricketer revealed that Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) had to pay for his excess baggage. For the unversed, Karthik flew straight from England to UAE for the second leg of IPL 2021.
I am really enjoying being amongst the boys: Dinesh Karthik
“KKR were kind enough to pay for the excess baggage, so it was good (smiles, on being asked how he carried all his suitcases back from England). It was a great trip to come here and I am really enjoying being amongst the boys,” Karthik told Star Sports ahead of KKR’s game against Mumbai Indians in Abu Dhabi.
Karthik also opened up about his equation with KKR skipper Eoin Morgan. We (him and Eoin Morgan) have formed a good partnership. He asks me a few things between overs, which direction we are going and I give my opinion and then he takes a call he is comfortable with. There is a nice camaraderie there as captain and vice-captain, the sync is good,” he added.
Meanwhile, KKR endured a horrendous time in the first leg of IPL 2021, winning just two of their seven games. However, they kick-started the UAE leg on a grand note, defeating Royal Challengers Bangalore by nine wickets in their first assignment.
