Kieron Pollard opens up on Hardik Pandya’s uniqueness

Former West Indies skipper Kieron Pollard has heaped praises on star India all-rounder Hardik Pandya and has also explained what makes him a valuable player in the first place. Pandya would be one of the integral members of the Indian squad in the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia.

The Baroda cricketer has re-emerged after a short break with consistent performances in IPL 2022 where he not only led the new entrants Gujarat Titans to their maiden IPL title but also made significant contributions with both bat and ball. After the IPL, he went on to establish himself as one of the Indian team’s most reliable finishers in the shortest format.

Hardik Pandya is a brilliant cricketer: Kieron Pollard

“Hardik is work in progress. He was going through a rough time in the last couple of months. Again, we have seen the rewards of his hard work,” Pollard told journalist Vimal Kumar in a video posted on the latter’s YouTube channel.

“I know him for a couple of years and I understand how he thinks and operates. It’s not surprising for me what he did in international cricket and for the Gujarat Titans. He’s a brilliant cricketer. Cricketers like him come once in so many years. So again, I only wish him good luck”, the veteran all-rounder further added.

Meanwhile, the Indian team left for Australia on the morning of Thursday, October 6. The Men in Blue are scheduled to play a couple of warm-up matches before their campaign begins. They will be facing the reigning world champions Australia and the previous edition’s runners-up New Zealand on the 17 and 19 October respectively.

The Rohit Sharma-led side will kickstart their campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan at the iconic MCG on October 23. As the team begins its World Cup preparations, the Indian think tank would be first hoping to find a suitable replacement for pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah who has been ruled out due to a back injury.
