Jofra Archer allowed to resume light training this week after undergoing a surgery

Archer

There is a piece of good news for all the Rajasthan Royals fans as it is learned that there has been a significant improvement in Jofra Archer’s fitness and he has been cleared by the doctors to resume light training this week. Archer suffered a cut on his hand in the month of January while he was cleaning his home.

The speedster arrived in India for the England tour of India and participated in two Test matches along with five T20 Internationals. However, his injury aggravated while playing the shortest format of the game and he was advised by the doctors to undergo surgery. Thus, Archer gave the three-match One Day series against India a miss and returned back to England. Towards the end of March, he also underwent surgery to remove a glass fragment from a tendon on his right hand. Alongside, the speedster is also undergoing treatment for a long-term elbow injury.

ECB issues a statement regarding Jofra Archer

Meanwhile, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) issued a statement on the fitness of Jofra Archer saying that the pacer is healing and thus will be resuming training this week. However, the management is yet to take a call regarding the return of the pace sensation in India for participating in the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

“Archer has been given the all-clear by his hand consultant to resume training after his right hand continues to heal following his operation. He will return to light training this week, working closely with the Sussex and England men’s medical teams. It’s hoped that he will be able to up his intensity with his bowling from next week. No decision has been made as yet on when Archer is due to return to playing,” ECB said in a statement.

Jofra Archer is the backbone of the Rajasthan Royals’ bowling attack. The pacer was scalped by Royals during IPL 2018 auctions for INR 7.20 crore and has been a vital cog for the team since then. He was missed by the franchise in their first match of IPL 2021 against Punjab Kings (PBKS) as the RR pacers leaked runs at an economy of 10+ apart from young Chetan Sakariya.
