Jaydev Unadkat reacts on not getting picked for WTC final and England tour
On Friday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a 20-member squad for the final of the inaugural edition of the World Test Championship and a five-match Test series against England. Along with the main squad, four standby players will be travelling to England for the two events.
There are no surprise inclusions in the main squad as the selection committee decided to go with the tried and tested players. Former Indian pacer Dodda Ganesh seemed upset with BCCI’s picks for the WTC and England tour as he lashed out at authorities for ignoring the left-arm pacer Jaydev Unadkat. Unadkat’s lone outing in the purest format of the game came in 2010 against South Africa and he went wicketless in the match while conceding runs at an economy rate of 3.88.
Dodda Ganesh questions the Indian selectors; Jaydev Unadkat responds
Your concern motivates me even more! Bring on the next season.. ???

However, since then the 29-year-old has delivered many stunning performances in first-class cricket and has made a case for himself to be included in the Indian side. Unadkat led his domestic team Saurashtra to a Ranji Trophy title win and made a record by picking as many as 67 wickets during the 2019-20 edition.
Ganesh seemed bewildered with India’s decision of leaving Unadkat even after such stunning performances and he took to his official Twitter handle to confront the selectors regarding the same. The tweet made by the former Indian pacer also caught the attention of Unadkat and he couldn’t help but feel overwhelmed by the concern shown by the veteran. Replying to the tweet by Ganesh, Unadkat wrote that he is motivated to perform even better in the next season and make a case for himself to receive a Test call.
