Jasprit Bumrah returns to bowling in nets post injury

The Indian cricket team has been handed a massive boost after star pacer Jasprit Bumrah shared a video of himself bowling in the nets. The Indian bowling spearhead has been out of action since September and revealed the news of his return to nets via his official Instagram handle.

Jasprit Bumrah has had a forgettable 2022, as the pacer initially missed this year’s Asia Cup in the UAE and was ruled out of the T20 World Cup in Australia following a brief stint with the national team. However, the 29-year-old was seen making a full-fledged return to bowling in the nets in a video shared via his Instagram handle.

The Asian outfit struggled in the T20 World Cup in the absence of Bumrah and will be buoyed by his return to bowling ahead of a decisive home season. His back injury ruled him out almost for the entirety of 2022 and it will be interesting to see if the team risks the star pacer for the white-ball series against Sri Lanka at home in January 2023.

The bowling spearhead will likely be making his return to the team ahead of the exciting Border-Gavaskar Trophy to be contested against Australia, commencing in February next year. Following an injury to Bumrah’s new ball bowling partner Mohammed Shami, the experienced Umesh Yadav is leading the attack for the Indian team in the ongoing Test series against hosts Bangladesh.

Former Indian selector Saba Karim had lamented the injury woes of the Indian fast bowlers and had advised the team to look at a new pool of bowlers to have more options in the fast bowling department.

“The frequency with which Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami are getting injured, the time has come for India to create a new pool of fast bowlers. We need to look beyond them as well,” Saba had told India News.
