Jasprit Bumrah kicks 30-yard field markers in anger; picture surfaces

Bumrah

India’s pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah is going through a rough patch in his career in the 50-over format. The pacer isn’t at his fluent best in the ongoing ODI series against Australia, with India lagging behind 0-2. Not only Bumrah, but all the five main Indian bowlers including Mohammed Shami, Yuzvendra Chahal, Navdeep Saini and Ravindra Jadeja failed to weave their magic on Australian soil.

India and Australia were up against each other in the second One Day International at Sydney Cricket Ground on Sunday. Batting first, the hosts managed a humongous total of 389 on the board as the Aussie batters launched an assault on India’s bowling line-up. Bumrah had a good start in the game as his opening spell figures read 3-1-9-0.

However, the seamer soon became predictable and the Australian skipper Aaron Finch thrashed him for 12 runs in the 12th over. This was followed by former captain Steve Smith making 13 runs in the 40th over bowled by Jasprit Bumrah. This majorly hampered the confidence of the Ahmedabad Stalwart and just like the previous game, he leaked a lot of runs in this one too.

Bumrah frustrated with his poor run

Though Bumrah managed to pick up the wicket of Marnus Labuschagne, he was highly ineffective at death as he finished with poor figures of 10-1-79-1. The 26-year-old frustration was quite evident on the field as he was found kicking the 30-yard fielding markers away in anger for not getting desired results.

Bumrah’s poor form in the ODI format has been an issue for the Indian cricket team for a while now. Since the past nine ODI games, the fast bowler has picked just 4 wickets. The last time he picked more than one wicket was 10 matches ago – a three-wicket haul against Sri Lanka at the World Cup 2019. He had also gone wicketless in all the three ODIs that India had played against New Zealand earlier in this year away from home.
