A look at some classiest hairstyles of Captain Cool –
Long golden hairs
During the initial years of his career, the Ranchi stalwart was more in talk because of his dapper hairs than his batting skills. It was the very first time an Indian cricketer was seen sporting such a stylish hairstyle. During the tour of Pakistan in 2006, even the former Pakistan president Pervez Musharraf advised him to not have a haircut anytime soon.
2007 T20 World Cup
It was the 2007 T20 World Cup time, after which Dhoni’s name was etched in history because of his master class that led the team to lift the trophy. During that tournament, Mahi was seen pulling off long straightened jet-black hair. Soon after he sported this style, it became a fashion statement among youngsters across the country.
2008 ‘summer’ cut
Post the huge success in the 2007 T20 World Cup, the star cricketer surprised the world by cutting his hair short. While some appreciated the new sober look, few missed his stylish locks. He donned the perfect summer look by trimming his hair short on the sides while having some volume in the middle portion. It again got copied by his several fans.
Post-2011 World Cup look
It becomes almost unbelievable for a cricketer to go bald after being famous for his hair. But yes, MS Dhoni did the same. After the historic 2011 WC victory, the Ranchi hero posed with the elegant trophy in front of the iconic Gateway of India in Mumbai, where he was seen sporting an almost bald look but managed to look classy anyway.
The Mohawk
It was in 2013 when the CSK captain shocked everyone by unveiling his ‘mohawk’ hairstyle, which only had volume in the middle portion, and sides were completely trimmed. It was during IPL only that he took off his helmet and turned heads by sporting this new look. It was also criticized by many of his fans, but soon people got used to it.
MS Dhoni- biopic promotion look
It was in 2016 that Dhoni’s biopic hit the silver screens, and people got firsthand experience of his struggles and sacrifices to set foot on the cricket field. His popularity grew even more, and during the promotion of this biopic, he was seen pulling off, sober, mid-length hair with a stubble that suited him just perfectly.
Salt and Pepper look
During 2018, the skipper showed the ultimate fearless side of his character by sporting a ‘salt and pepper look’ wherein a person displays a blend of black and grey hair. Dhoni was seen with a grey beard and grey blackish hair, which was lauded by fans as he just appeared natural, not hiding his age factor.
New Summer Look
MSD was on a sabbatical right after the semi-final of the 2019 World Cup which India lost against New Zealand. He was only seen in the public domain when he arrived at Chennai airport to attend preparatory camp ahead of IPL 2020. He was seen sporting a perfect summer look with no beard and only volume of hair in the middle portion of the head.
