IPL: Most wickets by an uncapped player in a season

3. Umran Malik, 22 wickets, IPL 2022
The then 22-year-old impressed everyone with his speed during his debut season in 2021. Malik took the tournament by storm in his second season having picked up 22 wickets in 14 matches at an average of 20.18 and an economy of 9.03 with one five-wicket haul to his name.
2. Avesh Khan, 24 wickets, IPL 2021
Playing for Delhi Capitals, the 26-year-old picked up 24 wickets in 2021 at an average of 18.75 and an economy of 7.37. After having three quiet seasons in the T20 extravaganza, the right-arm seamer made a sensational comeback in 2021 and followed it up with another incredible season where he scalped 18 wickets and got an entry into the Indian team.
1. Harshal Patel, 32 wickets, IPL 2021
The 32-year-old had a dream season in 2021 as he picked up 32 wickets at an average of 14.34 and an economy of 8.14 with one five-wicket haul to his name. Patel equalled Dwayne Bravo’s record from 2013 for most wickets in a season. However, the West Indian all-rounder had played three more matches than the Indian seamer. The performance also got him a place in the Indian team and he was part of the squad in the T20 World Cup 2022.
