IPL: Most runs at a single venue
Indian Premier League is arguably the most entertaining T20 league in the world. The tournament has almost everything in it, from all the top players from international cricket to a star-studded legendary commentary panel to enthral the fans. Over the years, the T20 extravaganza has seen several top batters ripping apart the strongest bowling attacks of the competition. While these batters are already quite intimidating, playing in their favourite grounds makes them even more dangerous for the opposition. On that note, let’s take a look at the top three batters with the most runs at an IPL venue:
3. Rohit Sharma (1840 runs at Wankhede Stadium)
The Mumbai Indians captain is the most successful skipper in the history of the tournament having five trophies under his belt. Apart from taking tactical decisions on the field, Sharma is also one of the finest batters of the tournament as he’s the third-highest run-scorer in the competition’s history with 5764 runs to his name. Of that, 1840 runs have come at Mumbai Indian’s home ground Wankhede Stadium in 65 innings.
2. AB de Villiers (1960 runs M Chinnaswamy Stadium)
The Mr 360 has staggering numbers in the IPL as he amassed 5162 runs in 170 innings at an average of 39.71 and a phenomenal strike rate of 151.69 (highest for batters above 3,000 runs). M Chinnaswamy Stadium has historically been a high-scoring ground and de Villiers has played the majority of his career at the venue. Out of his 5,162 runs, 1960 runs have come at RCB’s home ground in 58 innings.
1. Virat Kohli (2346 runs M Chinnaswamy Stadium)
The King of modern cricket is often found at the top of most batting records and he is ruling this list as well. Kohli is the highest run-scorer in the history of IPL with 6411 runs to his name in 208 innings. The former Royal Challengers Bangalore captain has played for RCB since the tournament’s inception in 2008 and as a result, has played often at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. He has scored 2346 runs in 72 innings at RCB’s home ground, the most by any player at a venue in the tournament.
