With the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 well underway, the tournament has already seen its fair share of boundaries being hit. There have been several games over the years that have seen a whopping number of boundaries hit in matches.
With the explosive knocks of various players, it is only natural that the match consists of a number of boundaries being hit throughout the game. However, let us have a look at the top three list of most boundaries being hit by a team in a match.
3. KKR vs PBKS, Indore, 2018 (39)
One of the highest-scoring encounters in the history of the tournament came when Kolkata Knight Riders took on Punjab Kings in the 44th game of the IPL 2018. Coming in to bat first, Kolkata notched up 245 runs on the board. The side hit a whopping 39 boundaries in the game, hitting 24 fours and 15 sixes in the first innings. Eventually, Kolkata won the game by 31 runs.
2. PBKS vs LSG, Mohali, (2023) (41)
Lucknow Super Giants put on quite a spectacle when they took on Punjab Kings in the 38th game of the IPL 2023. Batting first, the KL Rahul-led side notched up a whopping 257 runs on the board. The side hit 41 boundaries throughout the first innings. hitting 27 fours and 15 sixes in the game. Eventually, Lucknow won the game by 56 runs.
1. RCB vs PWI, Bangalore (2013) (42)
One of the greatest games in the history of the tournament came when Royal Challengers Bangalore took on Pune Warriors India in the 31st match of the IPL 2013. Chris Gayle played an unbelievable knock of 175* runs in just 66 balls. In the first innings, Bangalore hit 42 boundaries, which included 21 fours and just as many sixes.
