IPL mega auction to begin at 11 AM on February 12 and 13

In 4 days’ time, the Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction will take place. The auction will be a two-day affair and will be held in the city of Bangalore.

And now, the timings for the IPL mega auction have been confirmed. The TATA IPL mega auction will begin at 11 AM IST on both the days. This was confirmed by the official Twitter handle of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

“The TATA IPL Auction 2022 is almost here, where your favourite teams’ future will be decided! This is where their road to success shall begin. Catch every move from the mega auction. Feb 12-13, 11 AM onwards,” read the tweet from the official Twitter handle of the Indian Premier League.

Two new franchises added to the fray for IPL 2022

Also, two new IPL franchises, Ahmedabad and Lucknow have been added to the mix for the 15th edition of the IPL. And, both these franchises have confirmed their three draft picks ahead of the mega auction.

While Lucknow opted for KL Rahul, Marcus Stoinis, and Ravi Bishnoi, the Ahmedabad franchise picked Hardik Pandya, Rashid Khan, and Shubman Gill. Rahul and Pandya will lead the Lucknow and Ahmedabad franchises respectively.

While Rahul will be paid a whopping salary of INR 17 Crores, Pandya will draw a sum of INR 15 Crores. A total of 590 players have been shortlisted for the IPL mega auction this year. While 355 of them are uncapped cricketers, 228 are capped ones.

Marquee names such as Ravichandran Ashwin, David Warner, Pat Cummins, Shreyas Iyer, Shikhar Dhawan, Trent Boult, Mohammed Shami, Quinton De Kock, Kagiso Rabada, and Faf du Plessis will go under the hammer in the mega auction. Also, a total of 48 players have been shortlisted in the INR 2 Crore bracket, while 20 players have registered their names in the INR 1.5 Crore bracket. 34 players have a base price of INR 1 Crore.
