IPL Chairman Brijesh Patel confirms mega auction will be held on 12th & 13th February
The Chairman of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Brijesh Patel has confirmed that the IPL mega auctions will take place on 12th and 13th February this year in the city of Bangalore.
Also, the two new franchises, Ahmedabad and Lucknow will be given around 2 weeks to sign their players ahead of the mega auctions. A formal letter regarding the same will be dispatched to both the franchises in a couple of days.
Patel further confirmed that Vivo will no longer be the title sponsors of the IPL, and the Tatas will replace them. Patel also added that the IPL Governing Council has approved Vivo’s request to exit.
“Vivo has exited and the Tatas will be title sponsors. There was a request from Vivo to exit the IPL sponsorship deal and the GC has approved it. The BCCI will continue to earn the same fee for the title rights,” said Brijesh Patel as quoted by Cricbuzz.

Also, the CVC Capitals’ acquisition of the Ahmedabad franchise has been approved by the IPL Governing Council, and the Letter of Intent will be issued by the BCCI regarding the same. “The Governing Council has approved the CVC acquisition of the Ahmedabad team and we will issue the LoI today (January 11),” said Patel.
The Tatas will be the title sponsors of the Indian T20 League for the 15th and 16th editions of the tournament. Also, another development is, due to the rising Covid-19 cases in India, the BCCI is mulling to host the entire tournament in one single state, Maharashtra.
