IPL: Batters with most sixes in overs 16-20

If scoring runs in the powerplay is important then smoking runs at the death is equally important as well. Overs 16-20 is the time when the batters look to end the innings strongly by smoking the bowlers all around the park. In the Indian Premier (IPL), some power-packed hitters have smashed the most maximums all these years to give their respective teams the final flourish at the death.

5.Andre Russell (86)

Andre Russell who is known for his muscular and power-hitting has slammed the fifth most sixes in over 16 to 20 in the IPL. Russell has cleared the ropes 86 times in 49 innings at the death. He has also smashed 64 fours at a brutal strike rate of 198. The hard-hitter has amassed 955 runs in 482 deliveries in the final overs.

4.Rohit Sharma (90)

Rohit Sharma who opens the innings has hit 90 maximums at the death. In 86 innings in the last overs, Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper has scored 1481 runs in 817 deliveries at a strike rate of 181.27. The right-handed batter who has hit 230 sixes in total in the league occupies the third spot for hammering the third-most sixes overall in the history of IPL.

3.AB de Villiers (140)

Known for his 360-degree batting, former South African player AB de Villiers has given many nightmares to the bowlers, especially in overs 16-20. He has hit 140 sixes which are second-most in the league. De Villiers has mustered 1868 runs in 838 balls in 81 innings at a staggering and stellar strike rate of 222.91. Former Royal Challengers Bangalore batter has scored 135 fours with a solid average of 46.70 in the death-overs.

2.Kieron Pollard (141)

West Indian Kieron Pollard has sent the ball sailing into the stands 141 times in the final overs in IPL history. The Trinidadian has played 122 innings at the death and scored 1978 runs in 1142 deliveries. He boasts a solid strike rate of 173.20 as the tall right-handed batter has also struck 128 fours in the final overs.

1.MS Dhoni (167)

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batter MS Dhoni has struck the most sixes which are 167 in the death overs. In 154 innings, Dhoni has scored 2927 in 1672 deliveries at an average and strike rate of 37.05 and 175.05 respectively. Former CSK captain Dhoni has also slammed 217 fours in the final overs in the league’s history.
