The much-anticipated auction for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is just a few hours away. The IPL auction, which will be a mini one, is scheduled to take place today (February 18th) in Chennai. Earlier this month, the BCCI had announced the list of the players who will go under the hammer in the auction.

Initially, a total of 1,114 cricketers had registered for the event. The final list was then pruned to 292 after the eight franchises submitted their shortlisted players. A total of 164 Indian players, 125 overseas players, and 3 players from Associate Nations will be up for grabs. Out of the 292 players, a maximum of only 61 players will be able to get the IPL contracts.

Royal Challengers Bangalore have the maximum vacancies in their squad as they need to sign a total of 11 players to complete their squad. On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad have the least number of vacancies as they need only three signings to complete their squad.
